Andres Bluhm

Andres is the managing founder of Big Planet Ventures, an early stage micro VC seeking to invest in disruptive, transformational technology companies. Their portfolio includes nascent ventures in a variety of deep tech sectors, namely cell-cultured proteins, computational biotech, advanced materials, carbon reduction and applied robotics. Andres provides mentoring and, in certain cases, board level support to most of these investees.

Before setting up BPV, Andres spent over a decade in the global wind energy industry. He was the international business development director for Gaia-Wind, a Danish OEM of domestic wind turbines, and led the regional expansion of Northern Power Systems into the UK and Ireland. He also sat on the technical subcommittee of Renewables UK, one of Europe’s leading clean energy trade associations. In 2013 he founded Terra Renewables, a UK-based developer of single onshore turbine sites throughout the UK. Prior professional experience includes stints in merchant banking and in strategy consulting.

Andres is originally from Ecuador, where he was born and raised by German parents. He moved to the UK in 2001. He holds a BSBA from John Carroll University and an MSc in Strategy and Finance from the London Business School.
